Our custom wood doors offer a variety of panel styles, allowing you to create a piece that perfectly aligns with your aesthetic. Here are our primary options:
Raised Panel
A classic choice that adds depth and character, raised panels are available in multiple profiles, making them suitable for both traditional and modern settings.
Flat Panel (Shaker Style)
Renowned for their clean lines and minimalist appeal, Shaker-style flat panels can be paired with a profiled frame for an added touch of elegance, making them versatile for various rooms.
Bevel Tongue and Groove Plank Panel
These bold panels create a striking statement, showcasing craftsmanship with their beveled edges and depth, suitable for both interior and exterior applications.
Square Tongue and Groove Plank Panel
With narrow planks spaced at 1/8″, these panels reflect a nautical aesthetic, evoking a coastal vibe and adding charm to cabinetry or accent walls.
Micro-Bevel Flush Panel
Combining modern simplicity with durability, these panels feature a subtle bevel at the joints, offering a sleek appearance while ensuring strength, perfect for high-traffic areas.
Frame and Panel Construction
Frame Design
Each door features two vertical stiles and two horizontal rails, crafted to securely hold shaped solid wood or glass panels. Additional support is provided through mullions and mid-rails for larger panels, enhancing visual appeal.
Materials
We use Vertical Grain Douglas Fir for its strength and stability, with each component intricately profiled along the interior edge, often mirroring the design of the panel.
Joinery
Our cope and stick joinery method creates seamless connections using specialized shaper cutters. These ensure a precise fit, reinforcing joints with tenons glued into pre-cut mortises for maximum durability.
Panel Integration
Panels are securely captured within grooves on the frame’s interior edge. Each panel is cut slightly smaller than the available space to allow for natural expansion, maintaining a clearance of about 1/8″. Elastic caulking is applied in the groove during assembly to enhance energy efficiency and minimize air leakage.
